Classes

yoga classShake Your Soul

My yoga dance classes do not require any previous movement experience—just a body that moves and a mind that opens! Class starts with relaxing and contemplative yogic stretching and develops into various explorations of dance in an accepting, fun and creative environment, suitable for all movers.

What makes the Shake Your Soul experience different from standard yoga or dance classes is that we get to connect not only to our own body/mind, but to those around us in the spirit of creative expression and play. The format and pacing of class allows for a gradual building of connection and trust within ourselves that blossoms into connection with others. Each class is unique, depending on the energies and individual expressions of each group.

Yoga

I have taught yoga for over eight years, and in that time, have enjoyed teaching students of all ages and abilities. I especially enjoy introducing people to yoga and helping them feel at home in a new practice that they may think they can’t do (“I’m not flexible enough,” “I’m too old,” “I hurt all over,” etc.). All the more reason to start some yoga! I am a firm believer that yoga is for everyone, should they choose it.

I started with yoga in the year 2000 for stress relief, and I find it is still my primary motivator in teaching and in practicing for myself. I have never been big into advanced yoga postures, so I tend to teach restorative, gentle and moderate-level classes. I am available for private sessions for one-on-one study as well as small groups and special occasions (such as bachelorette party yoga!).

My approach comes from a blend of influences, including my early years of studying Iyengar yoga and later explorations in Kripalu yoga. While I tend toward the meditative, expressive movement side of the yoga world, I love to cater classes specifically to meet clients’ needs and desires. I would love to hear from you regarding how you would like to bring yoga into your life, and what unique wishes you have.
